About Nashville, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Nashville is located in the rolling hills of southern Indiana, approximately 50 miles south of the city of Indianapolis. Founded in 1836, Nashville is the county seat of Brown County and home to a population of approximately 800, as well as a host of historic, natural, and recreational resources that promise rest, relaxation, fun, and adventure for residents and visitors alike!
Nashville is located just minutes from Brown County State Park, Indiana’s largest state park featuring more than 16,000 acres of scenic hills, ridges, gullies, and slopes that offer everything from fishing, hiking, biking, and horseback riding to golfing, sledding, and bird watching. Park amenities include an Olympic size swimming pool, campgrounds, two recreational lakes, and a nature center featuring programs, exhibits, and activities relative to the history and natural resources of the area.
A former artists’ colony, Nashville is the home of renowned American impressionist painter, Theodore C. Steele who settled there during the early 1900s. Many of his paintings are on display at the T. C. Steele State Historic Site, a complex featuring the home, studio, and grounds of the town’s first resident artist. Today, Nashville is the official residence of dozens of local artists who ply their wares in various shops, galleries, and studios that populate the Art Village located in the heart of downtown.
Patrons of the arts can enjoy movies, musical events, and live performances of dance, theater, and comedy at the revitalized Brown County Playhouse, while history buffs can visit the Brown County Historical Museum and History Center located in Pioneer Village in downtown Nashville.
Annual festivals and celebrations keep the town hopping with popular events such as the National Maple Syrup Festival, Indiana Wine Fair, and Indiana State Fingerstyle Guitar Festival, held in March, April, and July respectively. The Back Roads Studio Tour is a self-guided offered year-round that showcases the arts and crafts of more than 20 present day artists and affords visitors the opportunity to meet and observe the artists in their private studios and workspaces.
Voted among the top 20 “Best Small Towns to Visit in 2015” by Smithsonian.com, Nashville is a great city to live or visit in Southern Indiana!
